Monday I go to the dentist office for my bi-annual cleaning. Going into the dentist office is an extremely horrific experience for me, even for a cleaning. I feel it goes back to my younger years when the family dentist did not believe in preventive dentistry or perhaps didn't know about it?
I recall in 8th grade when a class mate is late for school. She has been to have her teeth cleaned. WHAT??? People actually get their teeth cleaned? The next time I have to go to the dentist. I ask him about this unheard of practice. His reply....you are fine, your teeth do not need cleaning. *rolling eyes* Yep, I go to the dentist only to get a filling or have a tooth pulled until I am an adult. By now much drilling and filling has taken place, along with one or two permanent teeth being extracted. In those days, they have this drill that sounds like...well I don't even know what it sounds like but it is awful and I still shiver when I think about it. Now I can't stand the sound of any type drill, no matter what its purpose.
Anyway, I take my new squish ball with me for this horrific occasion. I normally wring my hands as the hygienist does her thing and while the dentist does his probing during the exam. I think what a wonderful time to have my fun new toy. Of course, the squish ball gets lots of attention from the staff. I make it through the cleaning with the hygienist telling me several times how well I am doing with my hygiene (glad she noticed).
Monday night as I sit watching TV, I start playing with my squish ball, again. Ut oh, I feel something wet....what?? What is that stuff oozing out of my ball? It is a clear gel like substance and it is burning my finger. It makes me think of the blob. (I do my best not to watch scary movies but it seems once I caught a few minutes of the blob). Anyway, I start thinking, as I lay my oozing squish ball on a napkin on the kitchen counter, what if it keeps growing and comes after me.......... It seems it isn't going to pursue me so I relax about that. *whew*
I am so sad for a few minutes. I decide not to mourn my loss. No, instead I am going to remember the fun I had with it!!!
ps. I will not be purchasing a replacement. That gel could be dangerous. Ya, just nevah know.

Boat Update
The boat has been in and out on the water several times in the past few weeks. Today, my DH sees that she is back in the slip. The first of the week MBFUM (Mr. Boat Fixer Upper Man) said he has her at the shop. Since we are having rain, rain, and more rain (actually it isn't raining today), the walkway to the boat is underwater. The yacht club manager offers to take DH to the boat in their little dingy but DH tells him it isn't necessary. Bottom line right now, we do not know if her gears are shifting properly or not. So the saga continues......
